Technical requirements of engineering office registration

Engineer’s office: to practice the profession in a single specialty only

A. Office / Engineer (A):

  • One of the founders must have an experience of no less than 12 years, five of which shall be in the design field in which the office will be registered.
  • The office space must be minimum 40 square meters.
  • He must be a former head of specialty of the same categorization or a higher degree; otherwise, the technical interview made by a committee formed by the Association must be passed.

B. Office / Engineer (B):

  • One of the founders must have an experience of no less than seven years, three of which shall be in the design field in which the office will be registered.
  • The office space must be minimum 40 square meters.
  • He must be a former head of specialty of the same categorization or a higher degree; otherwise, the technical interview made by a committee formed by the Association must be passed.
  • Engineering Office / Company: to practice the profession in one or more specialties.
  • Each specialty must be headed by an engineer with an experience of no less than seven years, three of which shall be in the design field.
  • The office space must be minimum 60 square meters.
  • The specialty heads must be at the same categorization or at a higher grade; otherwise, the technical interview made by a committee formed by the Association must be passed.
  • Consultation Office / Company: to practice the profession in one or more specialties.
  • Each specialty must be headed by an engineer with an experience of no less than 12 years, five of which shall be in the design field.
  • Space must be minimum 80 square meters for a supporting office and 100 square meters for a contracting office.
  • The number of engineers working for the office / company in the design field shall be twice the number of specialties, provided they are of the same office’s specialties.
  • The specialty heads must be consultants; otherwise, the technical interview made by a committee formed by the Association must be passed.

Expert Engineer Office

  • The founding engineer must be registered in the Association as an expert engineer.
  • The office space shall be minimum 40 square meters.
  • The office business shall be limited to consultation and experience provision.
  • It may not enter into contracts to prepare studies for the entire projects or to supervise the implementation of such projects.
  • The engineer who owns the office must have been practicing the profession for no less than 15 years after he had obtained a university degree, and at least eight of which are in the specialty practiced by the office; or otherwise he has been practicing the profession for no less than 10 years after he had obtained a PhD degree in the specialty, and at least five of which are in the specialty practiced by the office.

Engineering Office / Company (Site inspection specialty)

Foundations and Soil Mechanics Specialty: the Engineering office or companies / foundations and soil mechanics specialty (site inspection) must have two engineers, one of which is registered in Civil Engineering Division and the other is registered in Mining Engineering, Engineering Geology and Petroleum Geology Division. Either one of the said engineers must head the specialty, provided he meets the requirements of specialty head in his field in accordance with engineering office of company categorization and his category. The other registered engineer must have an experience of no less than three years in his specialty field; and in case the office has another specialty, it will be headed subject to the required conditions.
